Executive Summary

The October 22 refresh expanded the first-party database from 114 to 118 institutions and appended 307 Bank

Verified observations. In 112 strictly comparable observations, one CD rate increased 10 basis points, 111 were

unchanged, and none declined. A 5.00% APY savings headline remains available only on limited balances; the highest

freshly observed CD is 4.87% APY for a five-year jumbo certificate.

1 / Rate Environment

Deposit pricing is predominantly stable in the measured panel: 0.9% of strict comparisons increased, 99.1% were

unchanged, and 0.0% declined. This is a partial, nonrandom bank refresh, not evidence of nationwide stability.

Borrowing benchmarks are mixed to slightly firmer: two-, five- and ten-year Treasury yields each rose 1–2 basis points

on October 21, while the latest weekly mortgage average remains elevated.

America First was compared against its October 14 official rate schedule; the refreshed rate is effective October 21. No verified cuts

qualified. Another 195 appended observations were excluded from strict breadth, including 153 new-institution baselines and 42

existing-institution records without exact prior comparables.

Seven-day discovery window (October 16–22): 7 verified increases, 334 unchanged daily comparisons, and 0 cuts. Counts repeat

products across days and do not measure unique bank changes. The largest increases discovered were +20 bp on four Alliant 12-month

certificate variants and America First's 24–29-month certificate; their prior disclosures predate the discovery day.

5 / Borrower Watch

The latest Freddie Mac weekly survey reports a 7.40% 30-year fixed mortgage average, unchanged week over week,

and a 6.71% 15-year fixed average, down 2 basis points. Using the October 21 ten-year Treasury yield of 5.13%, the

indicative 30-year mortgage-to-Treasury spread is 227 basis points. Prime is 7.00%, approximately 312 basis points

above EFFR; SOFR is 3.88%. These are reference spreads, not actual loan quotes.

Short- and intermediate-term CDs are competitive with Treasury par yields; the largest nominal Treasury advantage is at ten years. The

10Y–2Y Treasury spread is +32 basis points. Savings accounts are liquid but variable-rate, CDs generally fix APY subject to

early-withdrawal penalties, and Treasuries have distinct tax and market-price characteristics. This is general information, not

personalized financial advice.

1 increase · America First

Each group average uses one highest eligible fresh product per institution. “Online-oriented” denotes tracked banks with digital retail

deposit distribution; “credit union” includes member institutions. Basic share accounts, balance caps, and premium tiers make this

nonrandom sample unsuitable for a national average. Large traditional-bank matched coverage is insufficient to quantify a national-bank

premium or group-wide repricing speed.

8 / OnlineBankRates Takeaway

Today's bank-rate update shows a largely steady market within the products we could compare directly. America First

Credit Union increased its five-year certificate from 4.50% to 4.60% APY between verified disclosures, but the other 111

exactly matched products were unchanged. Four newly verified institutions expanded the database to 118; new listings

are not rate increases. The highest fresh savings headlines still reach 5.00%, but only on small balances, while widely

marketed 4.20% savings offers have promotional or activity conditions. The leading two-year CD pays 4.76%, just below

the comparable Treasury yield of 4.81%. At five years, a 4.87% jumbo certificate requires $50,000. Borrowers still face a

7.40% average 30-year mortgage rate. Check eligibility, deposit limits, penalties and effective dates before comparing

advertised APYs.

Data / Methodology Disclosure

Institution-level offers originate in the completed October 22 first-party OnlineBankRates discovery/refresh files. “Bank Verified” means

an institution-owned official disclosure was captured; it does not imply the rate is available to every customer. Fresh = official effective

date within 7 calendar days; aging = 8–30 days; stale = older than 30 days; undated = no reliable official effective date. Rates may

change, and some sources could not be retrieved today. Never infer a rate change from a new institution, new product, changed

freshness status, or mismatched eligibility.
