53 Matched Deposit Rates Hold Steady; 4.10% No-Minimum Savings Stands Out

Publication date: November 2, 2026 | 5 AM first-party refresh: November 2 | Latest official benchmark observations: October 29–30

Executive Summary

OnlineBankRates added four Bank Verified credit unions and 351 first-party rate observations, increasing verified institution coverage from 164 to 168. In a conservative, exact-comparable audit, zero deposit products increased, 53 were unchanged, and zero declined; these comparisons span five institutions and do not establish nationwide stability. A 5.00% conditional savings APY remains the highest fresh observed cash yield, while Always.bank's 4.10% APY with no opening minimum is a prominent simpler savings option. The latest weekly 30-year mortgage benchmark eased to 7.24% and Friday's Treasury yields declined.

1 / Rate Environment

Deposit rates were stable within the measured exact-comparable panel: 0 increases, 53 unchanged and 0 cuts across five institutions, but the refresh covered only 14 of 330 previously registered official URLs and cannot establish a national trend. Borrowing benchmarks were mixed to easing: the most recent two-, five- and ten-year Treasury yields fell on October 30 and the latest weekly mortgage survey declined, while prime and the latest independently corroborated overnight rates were stable. Monday's new Treasury closing yields and Thursday's next mortgage survey were not yet available at publication.

Reading the numbers: Deposit rates are issuer-published annual percentage yields (APYs); Treasury par yields, overnight reference rates and mortgage averages use different conventions. Index figures are tracked-panel averages, not nationwide averages. All observation dates are shown to prevent older official prints from being mistaken for November 2 market quotes.

3 / Biggest Verified Moves

No newly captured rate increase or cut passed the exact-comparability test. The independent audit found 53 unchanged products: Northpointe Bank 16, Apple Federal Credit Union 14, Bank5 Connect 11, Marcus by Goldman Sachs 10 and Always.bank two. Matching required the same named product, term, minimum opening deposit and balance tier, plus review of geography and relationship conditions. Repeated captures with the same effective date, ambiguous product tiers and changing eligibility terms were excluded.

Strict Bank Rate Breadth Increases Unchanged Cuts
Most recent comparable dated observation → Nov. 2 0 (0%) 53 (100%) 0 (0%)
Exactly Oct. 26 → Nov. 2, seven days 0 (0%) 4 (100%) 0 (0%)

Seven-day interpretation: Four exact Bank5 Connect products matched October 26 and November 2 disclosures; all four were unchanged. There is no verified seven-day increase or cut in that small matched subset. The previously reported CFG Bank CD increases discovered October 29 compared October 6 and October 27 disclosures, a 21-day interval; they must not be described as seven-day repricing.

4 / Where Savers Are Winning

Fresh first-party offer Observed APY What to check
Leader Bank Zeugma Plus Savings (qualifying) 5.00% New relationship, linked checking, monthly direct deposits, debit activity; up to $250,000
Always.bank High-Yield Savings 4.10% No opening minimum; U.S. adult eligibility; November 2 disclosure
CFG High Yield Money Market 4.05% $1,000 minimum; online or branch; October 27 disclosure
Apple FCU 12-month Starter Certificate 5.00% Separate capped special; $50 minimum, $5,000 maximum, one per membership
CFG Bank standard 12-month CD 4.65% $500 minimum; early-withdrawal terms
CFG Bank standard 24-, 36- and 60-month CDs 4.82% $500 minimum; term-specific penalties
Advancial 60-month jumbo certificate 4.87% $50,000 minimum and credit-union membership

Among standard, uncapped tracked CDs, the five-year jumbo leads at 4.87%; two-, three- and five-year CFG offers cluster at 4.82%. A newly verified Global Credit Union 24–35-month certificate is listed at 4.25%, but its term band is not an exact 24-month product and is excluded from exact-maturity comparisons. Teachers Federal Credit Union's new 12-month certificate offer is 4.00%; US Community Credit Union's September 11 schedule is stale and excluded from current rankings. Product availability, membership and qualifications should be checked before opening an account.

5 / Borrower Watch

Freddie Mac's October 29 survey reported 7.24% for 30-year fixed mortgages and 6.60% for 15-year mortgages, both eight basis points lower than October 22. Friday's Treasury curve also eased: two-year −5 bp, five-year −7 bp and ten-year −4 bp from October 29. The 30-year mortgage average stands about 230 bp above the October 30 ten-year Treasury yield, an illustrative comparison using different observation dates rather than a lender's quoted spread.

Prime remains 7.00%, and the latest corroborated SOFR is 3.94%; the prime-minus-SOFR gap is 306 bp. These reference rates influence some floating-rate products, but actual mortgage, HELOC, business-loan and credit-card pricing depends on credit risk, product structure, lender margins and fees. The Federal Reserve held its policy target at 3.75%–4.00% on October 28.

6 / Yield Curve and CD Strategy

Maturity Highest fresh standard CD Treasury Oct. 30 CD minus Treasury
3 months Bank5 Connect 4.30% 4.16% +14 bp
6 months Bank5 Connect 4.00% 4.25% −25 bp
12 months CFG Bank 4.65% 4.36% +29 bp
24 months CFG Bank 4.82% 4.56% +26 bp
60 months, jumbo Advancial 4.87% 4.71% +16 bp
120 months Apple FCU 3.75% 4.94% −119 bp

The Treasury curve rises 38 bp from two to ten years (4.56% to 4.94%). In the observed panel, one- and two-year CDs lead equivalent-maturity Treasury par yields, while six-month CDs lag and a five-year jumbo offers a narrower premium. Liquid savings rates may reset, CDs generally lock stated APYs but may impose withdrawal penalties, and Treasury securities have different tax and resale-price characteristics. These are nominal rate comparisons, not personalized financial advice or risk-adjusted rankings.

7 / Bank Behavior

Fresh one-per-institution panel Online-oriented banks Credit unions Regional/community banks Large national banks
Mean highest eligible savings APY 3.40% (n=5) 1.21% (n=6) 3.90% (n=3) Insufficient sample
Mean highest standard exact 12-month CD APY 3.95% (n=4) 3.52% (n=7) 2.97% (n=3) Insufficient sample

These nonrandom, small samples include low-yield basic credit-union share accounts and promotional/relationship rates where disclosed. They are not asset-weighted national averages. Today's 53 matched unchanged observations span online-oriented banks and credit unions; the sample does not support naming a fastest-repricing institution class. The Online-vs-National Bank Premium remains unpublished until a credible matched large-national-bank panel is available.

8 / OnlineBankRates Takeaway

Today's rate story is more about finding the right account than banks broadly raising or cutting yields. In our latest first-party check, 53 exactly comparable deposit products held their rates; none showed a verified increase or cut. Four new credit unions expanded the database, but newly discovered rates are not automatically rate changes. A qualifying Leader Bank savings account still reaches 5.00% APY, while Always.bank offers 4.10% without an opening minimum. Among standard CDs, CFG Bank's 12-month offer pays 4.65%, and Advancial's five-year jumbo reaches 4.87% with a $50,000 minimum. Mortgage averages eased last week, although borrowing remains costly. Before choosing an account, compare eligibility, deposit insurance, balance requirements, early-withdrawal penalties and the date the bank last published its rate.

9 / Proprietary Metrics and Methodology

Proprietary measure Nov. 1 Nov. 2 Interpretation
Savings Index v2.2 2.98% 2.57% −41 bp; fresh-panel composition, including new low-yield credit unions
12-Month CD Index v2.2 3.55% 3.52% −3 bp; fresh-panel composition
Bank Rate Breadth (increase / unchanged / cut) 0 / 34 / 0 0 / 53 / 0 Different daily matched samples

Fed Pass-Through Score Withheld Withheld No 30-day policy target midpoint change and inadequate fixed cohort
Online-vs-National Bank Premium Withheld Withheld Insufficient matched large-national-bank savings sample

Methodology v2.2, unchanged: Savings Index = equal-weighted mean of each tracked institution's highest fresh eligible adult consumer savings APY, one rate per institution. CD Index = equal-weighted mean of each institution's highest fresh, standard, exactly 12-month CD APY, one rate per institution. Business, IRA, youth, education-only, capped Starter and ambiguous term-range products are excluded; eligible uncapped jumbo and fully disclosed relationship tiers may be included. The Savings Index uses 14 institutions and the CD Index uses 14. Changes in these cross-sectional indexes must not be described as verified same-bank rate changes.

Bank Rate Breadth counts only matched institution, named product, term, opening minimum, balance tier, geography and eligibility, with independently dated first-party observations. Fed Pass-Through Score = 100 × (30-day change in a fixed matched deposit-cohort mean APY) ÷ (30-day change in the federal funds target midpoint); suppress when the denominator is zero or sample inadequate. Online-vs-National Bank Premium = 100 × (mean matched online-bank savings APY − mean matched large-national-bank savings APY), in basis points; suppress without credible matched samples. Best Cash Yield = highest fresh eligible adult savings or money-market APY, including clearly disclosed conditional offers. Fresh = 0–7 days after bank effective date; aging = 8–30 days; stale = 31+ days; undated = separate.

Historical integrity: Prior published index values are preserved without rewriting them. Today's cohort and comparison audit files document the November 2 calculation. Index composition changes, data normalization and freshness expirations are disclosed separately from rate movements.

Four newly verified institutions: First Financial Credit Union (California) (33 captured rows), Global Credit Union (131), Teachers Federal Credit Union (2) and US Community Credit Union (60). The remaining 125 appended observations were captured from previously tracked institutions. US Community's September 11 rate disclosures remain stale; a source recapture is not a current-rate verification.

Source quality: Eight attempts yielded no usable numeric APY, including dynamic/NaN displays at Synchrony, Capital One and American Express; inaccessible or blocked official pages at Barclays, nbkc and Alliant; a redirect loop at Primis; and a JavaScript-only Merrick disclosure. No third-party aggregator APYs were imported. Only 14 of 330 previously registered URLs were rechecked, so this is a partial first-party refresh, not a comprehensive nationwide survey. The collector's 22+ day stale threshold was normalized to the consistent editorial 31+ day standard; 1,654 is the comparable stale count for this edition.
