Ally Raises Savings and Money-Market APYs as Most Verified Deposit Rates Hold

Executive summary. The completed 5 a.m. first-party discovery/refresh expanded the tracked database from 124 to 129 verified institutions

and appended 135 Bank Verified observations. Among 18 audited comparable products, three increased 10 basis points each and 15 were

unchanged; no cuts were verified. All three increases were at Ally Bank and reflect October 23 effective rates, not a change implemented

Sunday. Five newly discovered institutions add coverage, including OMB Bank's fresh 21-month 4.65% CD special. This was a partial refresh,

not a nationwide census.

  1. Rate Environment

Deposit rates are predominantly stable in the audited panel, with 3 increases (16.7%), 15 unchanged (83.3%) and no cuts; the increases all

came from one institution, so the result cannot establish broad nationwide direction. Borrowing signals are mixed: Treasury yields rose on

Friday, October 23, while Freddie Mac's latest weekly 30-year mortgage average declined eight basis points.

Seven-day comparison (October 19-25): 6 increases, 311 unchanged observations, 0 cuts. These are daily audit events, including repeated

products, not 317 unique bank products or a national market share. The largest seven-day verified increase remains Bank5 Connect's

three-month CD, +110 bp between dated observations, captured October 23; no qualifying cuts were recorded. New bank quotes are not

counted as increases.

The new OMB Bank 21-month CD is a newly captured baseline, not a verified increase. Its individual product page failed retrieval, but the

4.65% APY was verified on the bank's official master rate table. Bank of Hope's captured offers were aging, Hyperion's undated, and

Ponce/Regent disclosures stale; they were not promoted as fresh leaders. OMB Bank official CD table.

  1. Borrower Watch

Freddie Mac's October 22 survey puts the 30-year fixed mortgage average at 7.32% (-8 bp week over week) and the 15-year at 6.68% (-3 bp).

Using the October 23 10-year Treasury yield of 5.00%, the indicative mortgage-to-Treasury spread is 232 bp. SOFR was 3.90% on October 22

(+2 bp from October 21); prime held at 7.00%, about 312 bp above EFFR. These are benchmark comparisons, not loan offers or lender margins.

The three observed increases were at online-oriented Ally Bank (including one IRA product). The two credit-union comparisons were

unchanged. This does not prove online banks are repricing fastest: sample sizes, product mixes and refresh coverage are highly uneven. The

sample includes basic low-yield credit-union share accounts, and a reliable large traditional-bank comparison group is unavailable.

  1. OnlineBankRates Takeaway

Sunday's bank-rate refresh found three verified increases, all at Ally Bank: its online savings, money-market and IRA savings

APYs rose from 3.10% to 3.20% between comparable dated disclosures. The other 15 audited products held steady, so this is

not evidence of a nationwide increase. Five institutions joined the database, but their initial quotes are baselines, not rate

changes. The strongest fresh savings headline remains 5.00%, available through limited-balance or qualifying promotional

accounts. For CDs, a 21-month OMB Bank special offers 4.65%, while a five-year jumbo certificate reaches 4.87% with a

$50,000 minimum. Treasury yields rose Friday, and the latest 30-year mortgage average eased to 7.32%. Compare eligibility,

caps, penalties and disclosure dates before relying on an advertised yield.

The Savings Index increased 8 bp, while the 12-month CD Index decreased 8 bp. Both index changes reflect changing fresh institution coverage

(notably the expiration of Hanscom's fresh status and a newly dated Peak Bank quote), not proof of same-product rate repricing. The

methodology remains v2.2; previous published values and version changes are preserved without retroactive overwrites.

Newly verified institutions: Bank of Hope, Hyperion Bank, OMB Bank, Ponce Bank and Regent Bank. The three source retrieval failures were

an OMB individual CD page (the rate was corroborated on its official master table), Primis Bank and nbkc Bank. The refresh rechecked only 18

of 229 previously registered official URLs. This is a partial first-party refresh, not a nationwide census; new institution baselines must not be

interpreted as price changes.

Methodology and Sources

Bank Verified indicates a rate captured from an institution-owned disclosure; Third Party Verified is not used in this edition. Fresh means the

official effective date is no more than seven calendar days old, aging is 8-30 days, stale is older than 30 days, and undated observations are

excluded from fresh leaderboards. Bank Rate Breadth uses verified dated comparable institution/product/term/balance tier/eligibility

observations; substantively equivalent wording is normalized with an audit trail, while aging/undated and unmatched products are excluded.

Savings Index v2.2 is the simple mean of each institution's highest fresh eligible consumer savings APY (excludes business, IRA, youth,

education and HSA products); CD Index v2.2 uses the highest fresh exact-12-month standard CD per institution, including jumbo but excluding

capped Starter/EasyStart, retirement, business and deferred-compensation products. Best Cash Yield is the highest fresh consumer savings

APY including restricted offers, prominently disclosed. Fed Pass-Through Score will be the median fixed-cohort same-product APY change

divided by the effective fed-funds change (minimum 20 matched products and five institutions). Online-vs-National Bank Premium will be the

online-bank minus large-national-bank mean leading comparable savings APY (minimum five institutions per group). The last two are withheld

until sufficient samples exist.

Official benchmarks: U.S. Treasury Oct 23, Federal Reserve H.15, NY Fed SOFR, NY Fed EFFR, Freddie Mac PMMS. Institution disclosures: Ally, Bank5

Connect, OMB Bank, Axos, Apple FCU, Advancial, FNBA. Institution-level figures and comparisons are calculated from the October 25 OnlineBankRates 5

a.m. first-party refresh and append-only historical records.

Disclosure: Advertised APYs may change and can be restricted by balance, geography, membership, promotional periods or activity. CDs may impose

early-withdrawal penalties; deposit insurance and Treasury taxation differ. This is informational reporting, not individualized financial advice.
